What We Offer Our Services Physical Therapy Physical therapy is provided in an individualized setting for approximately one hour. Upon completion of your first visit, your physical therapist will provide a diagnosis, prognosis, and individualized plan of care to address your needs. These needs can include decreasing pain, improving range of motion, increasing strength and restoring function. We treat a variety of orthopedic and sports-related injuries, including pre-and post-surgical injuries, and specialize in treating injuries to the neck and back. Our long-standing commitment to providing one-on-one, personalized, hands-on (manual therapy) care has helped to establish us as a leader in the profession. Additionally, we emphasize evidence-based practice when caring for our patients and athletes. At Performance Physical Therapy & Sports Conditioning we encourage all patients to take a pro-active role in their rehabilitation processes, and provide them with the tools necessary to maintain lasting results. Athletic Training Athletic trainers provide "prevention, emergency care, clinical diagnosis, therapeutic intervention and rehabilitation of injuries and medical conditions." Athletic trainers commonly work with sports programs at the youth, high school, collegiate and professional levels to address and manage the heath care needs of athletes. Our athletic trainers are highly skilled and implement evidence-based practice when caring for athletes. Services include game coverage, practice coverage, and general athletic training room hours. Athletic training services can be arranged for single or multiple events, seasonal coverage, or yearly coverage for a team, organization or facility. We pride ourselves in providing a consistent athletic trainer or team of athletic trainers for our clients, so each athlete is comfortable with his or her care. This improves the quality of care and better ensures the safety of each athlete. Each athletic trainer has direct access to a network of sports medicine physicians, physical therapists and other supportive resources. Sports Conditioning & Wellness Our strength, conditioning, and agility programs are designed to prepare the recreational, competitive or elite athlete for the mental and physical demands of sport. All programs are sport and age specific, and designed to enhance performance by increasing strength, power, speed and agility. We use the newest research-proven techniques and the Functional Movement Screen™ to achieve these desired outcomes. Programs are available for individuals, small groups, large groups, teams and camp sessions. We believe in the continuum of care. Performance Wellness enables our patients to continue to enhance their healthy lifestyles under the guidance of our experts. Whether trying to lose weight, or simply wanting to maintain the gains achieved in physical therapy, Performance Wellness can transition you to the next level. Functional Capacity Evaluations (FCE) Our physical therapists can help determine if a patient is physically ready to return to work following an injury. A Functional Capacity Evaluation (FCE) is a scientifically-developed, objective process which allows us to measure a patient's physical capabilities and tolerances. A patient’s current level of function is compared to the required physical demands of his or her job. Our proprietary FCE determines the level of participation and activity that is right for the patient following rehabilitation. All testing is performed with our evidence-based protocol, and testing is unique and specific to each case. We can simulate any type of workplace setting at our facility. All of our FCEs are controlled, real-world experiences, not computer generated numbers. FCEs can include the performance of activities such as climbing stairs, lifting and carrying objects, and balancing. Performance Physical Therapy & Sports Conditioning is a privately owned and operated clinic and provides fair, accurate, objective data and information in each specific Functional Capacity Evaluation and Workers' Compensation case. Concussion Evaluations & Treatment A concussion is a type of traumatic brain injury. It occurs when the brain collides with the skull as the result of the head experiencing a direct or indirect force. It can occur when two people collide, when a person falls to the ground, or when somebody is hit with a piece of equipment. Research suggests that rehabilitation is an effective way to address the potentially life-altering consequences of a concussion. At our practice, dual credentialed physical therapists/athletic trainers perform concussion evaluations and treatments. This includes a thorough assessment of the whole patient, with special consideration given to aerobic exercise tolerance, whiplash-like cervical spine dysfunction, and vision and/or balance disturbances. Although computerized testing (such as ImPact) is often used to track the changes brought about by a concussion, it is not necessary for treatment at our practice. Once a physician clears a patient to participate in concussion rehabilitation, treatment is designed for each patient. Treatment often includes elements of closely monitored aerobic exercise, manual therapy and therapeutic exercises to address spinal dysfunction, visuomotor retraining and balance retraining. As patients progress, rehabilitation programs are fine-tuned to meet the demands of returning to full functioning in daily life and sport. Work Hardening & Conditioning Our dual-credentialed physical therapists/athletic trainers implement our proprietary work hardening/conditioning programs. These programs utilize a sport-performance-based methodology to safely return workers to their workplaces. At our unique facility, we can simulate any work environment in which the patient is attempting to return, such as a firefighter carrying a hose up a full flight of stairs. This allows for functional rehabilitation activities and exercises that meet the specific needs of each patient. Questions before getting started? Get in touch.
